CODE OF CONDUCT

CHARACTER MATTERS

Our players, parents and coaches are representatives of the club, community and the sport, and we have high expectations that each will display the qualities we value on and off the field.

FOR PLAYERS

As a club, we strive to develop the qualities we desire in our community as well as on the pitch. We expect our players to exhibit the following behavior:

  • Know, respect and follow the rules of each league or event where participating.
  • Make every effort to get to all team events and communicate promptly if unable to do so.
  • Show respect for the match officials and all league and/or club personnel, even though in times of disagreement.
  • Work for the good of the team and conduct myself with honor and dignity at all times.
  • Display good sportsmanship before, during and after games.
  • Help parents and fans understand the rules so they can watch and enjoy the game fully.
  • Understand that team placement is subject to change within and between seasons and accept changes with integrity.
  • Acknowledge that play time in Travel will not be equal and is based on ability, behavior, participation and a variety of other factors.
  • Understand that violating this code of conduct may result in removal from an event or the program in entirety without refunds.

FOR PARENTS

Parents have a huge role in how their players conduct themselves and interpret situations.  Our ask as a club is that our parents set their children up for success on and off the field by modeling the following behavior:

  • Know, respect and follow the rules of each league or event where participating and ensure my player does as well.
  • Make every effort to get my player to all team events and communicate immediately if unable to do so.
  • Stay current on club communication and update availability promptly.
  • Show respect for the match officials and all league and/or club personnel, even though in times of disagreement.
  • Display good sportsmanship before, during and after games.
  • Help other parents and fans understand the rules so they can watch and enjoy the game fully.
  • Address any coaching concerns directly with the coach after a cool down period of 24 hours
  • Understand that team placement is subject to change within and between seasons and accept changes with integrity.
  • Acknowledge that play time in Travel will not be equal and is based on player ability, behavior, participation and a variety of other factors.
  • Understand that player code of conduct violations may result in their removal from an event or the program in entirety without refunds

FOR COACHES

Coaches are like teachers in their influence in and responsibility for molding the behavior of our youth.  We take this role very seriously and have extremely high expectations for our staff as a result. VRSC coaches are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the following:

  • Know, respect and follow the rules of each league or event where participating and ensure their players do as well.
  • Make every effort to arrive early and attend all team events and communicate to staff and families if unable to do so.
  • Stay current on team and club communication and update availability promptly.
  • Show respect for the match officials and all league and/or club personnel, even though in times of disagreement.
  • Display good sportsmanship before, during and after games.
  • Report any player and/or parent behavior issues to the club immediately.
  • Address any player concerns directly with the family after a cool down period of 24 hours.
  • Make every effort to provide all players adequate playing time as competition allows.
  • Act as a positive role model for players.
    • Be generous when your team wins.
    • Be graceful when your team loses.
    • Accept the decisions of the officials with good grace.
  • Understand that violating this code of conduct may result in removal from an event or the program in entirety without compensation
